Currently on display: "Alter Ego"
We as artists frequently embed pieces of ourselves into our art. Be it through our own personal images, character stand-ins, representations of emotions, or simply imagery we feel strongly about, the artist’s ego shines through. Art also allows the exploration of the sides of ourselves we hide from the world. Maybe there is a longing for a simple reality in the midst of everyday stress and chaos, or the desire for adventure left unfulfilled, or opinions we keep to ourselves because we are afraid of being judged. This show theme is about exploring yourself through the creation of art.
Featuring artworks by Theresa Brooks, June Covington, Laura Davidson, Christine Engebretsen, Curtis Frederick, Jamie Gardner, Sarah Graham, Anne Perry, Hannah Tyler, and Ricky Dean Wyrick

Sly Cat Galley is announcing our annual Summer Open Call for 2017. This year the theme is “Memory.”
Consider the aspects of memory; a collection of moments, that when revisited hold more power than the truth. Recollections carry emotions that were lost on you at the time, and can only truly be felt once the moment has faded into memory.
All mediums are welcome, as are both 2-D and 3-D works. There is no specific size limit, just be aware if you are submitting a large piece it might be wise to include examples of smaller works as gallery space is limited. Up to 10 works can be submitted. There is no entry fee or age limit, but the artist MUST be local (from the Dallas-Fort Worth area).
1) Send a high-quality image or images via email.
2) Image list including: Title, artist’s name, medium, size, and year completed.
3) A short description of the work, the process of how it was made, and the inspiration behind it (keep it short, a paragraph or a page max).
4) Contact information including both email and phone number.
5) Artwork must be presentable; whether this means a frame for a painting or a mat for a drawing, or a simple base for a sculpture. If after selection you still need help with this, we are happy to assist.
6) Hanging hardware must be provided, D-rings for large pieces, wire for smaller works. Please no saw-tooth hangers as they do not work well with our hanging system.
Images must be submitted by May 13. Artists will be notified by May 17 if they are to participate. Artwork must be received by June 1, earlier if presentation help (framing, etc.) is needed. Paintings must be dry. More information about artwork drop-off and shipping will be given when artists are notified of acceptance.

Tell a story. Convey an experience. Express an emotion. Share a journey.
Stories are a critical part of the human experience, they teach lessons and pass along knowledge, point out the flaws of society, and can inspire emotion through empathy.
These are the only guidelines, whether they are followed to a tee or used as a loose interpretation is up to you as an artist. What is it that you have to share?
All art forms are welcome, 2D, 3D, painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, ceramic, sculpture, poetry, fabric, and book art. If it can be displayed, be it hung on a wall, set on a pedestal, it is eligible; however, our ability to display digital media art (that is not printed) is limited, and if selected will require more setup time and cooperation between gallery and artist.
Artwork must be submitted via email by Sunday, May 28th. Artist will be contacted by June 6th. Arrangements for artwork being dropped off at the gallery will be made at that time, and further instructions will be given. All artwork must be display ready, not rolled up in a tube. Framing art is encouraged but not required.
Artworks will be placed for sale in accordance to the agreed upon amount by the artist and gallery, though the work can be specified as not for sale (NFS) we encourage artists to place their work up for sale as our wall space is limited.
